NFL Fantasy Pass: Week 1 Rookie Report

  •

Ben Johnson: Jahmyr Gibbs could be used in unexpected ways - NBC Sports

Below is a current breakdown of rookies we should all be aware of for this season. This list will be updated weekly with any relevant role changes and situations worth keeping an eye on. This report is operating under the assumption of a 12-player league and advice may differ depending on your specific league size and settings.

    Every Week Starters

Bijan Robinson (RB) Atlanta Falcons- A no-brainer inclusion in this section as Robinson is routinely going in the first round of drafts. The Falcons lead the league in 2022 with a rush rate of 51% behind their elite offensive line. We expect that to continue and even if they don’t lead the league again this year, there is still plenty of volume and talent to safely insert Bijan as an anchor of our lineups.

Jahmyr Gibbs (RB) Detroit Lions- The 12th overall pick from Alabama possesses a lot of upside running behind one of the best offensive lines as well as his expected involvement in the passing game. Being drafted as a low-end RB1/high-end RB2, there should be plenty of opportunity for Gibbs to showcase his talent even with the presence of veteran David Montgomery sharing the workload. The Lions will also play 11 of their games in a dome environment this year, adding to the appeal of Gibbs.

Dalton Kincaid (TE) Buffalo Bills- Admittedly, I struggled with where to include Kincaid on this list. The Bills used first-round draft capital to acquire Kincaid in April, indicating they have big plans for him. Used primarily as a receiving threat at Utah, Kincaid’s skillset seems as if he should be plugged into the third option on an explosive offense. There is concern that Dawson Knox is still going to be in the mix, possibly limiting the targets of Kincaid that doesn’t make him consistent enough to be an every-week starter. The ceiling is certainly high, but the floor is low as well.
