“Stream” These are going to be the D/STs that are sitting on your waiver wire begging to be picked up.

Start

Baltimore Ravens @ Tennessee Titans

The biggest threats on the Titans are Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins. Good thing the Ravens give up the 9th least amount of yards to opposing running backs. When it comes to receivers, they don’t do so well, but they’re going up against an aging Ryan Tannehill. The Ravens will have a lot of opportunities to get to the quarterback. They give up the 5th most sacks to opposing defense. The Ravens are second in the league in sacks. Pressure should make the Titans fold. This is going to be a great get back game for the Ravens after coming off a tough loss.

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants

Buffalo at home after coming off a loss against the Jaguars in Tottenham. Yeah, I’m all for it. This team is going to have a fire burning inside and they’re going to let it all out on the Giants. Their defense left Tottenham banged up, but the backups stepped up and with a week for recovery and better adjustments, the Bills should be a lot better than last week. Their opponents are the Giants, this shouldn’t even be a discussion.

Cleveland Browns vs. San Francisco 49ers

HOT TAKE. The Browns have been really solid throughout the season. From being one of the best run defending teams to being one of the best pass defending teams, they can do it all. They’re going to have one of the toughest teams in front of them for 60 minutes, but I think they can get the job done against this team for a couple of reasons. The Browns are coming off a bye week. Two weeks of practice, recovery, and preparation. This is a huge advantage for the Browns. The 49ers are coming off arguably their best win this season. Scoring lights out, playing amazing defense, and overall being the best team. The odds of the 49ers repeating that performance are not high. The odds are slimmer when they’re facing a team that has been given two weeks to prepare against them and they get to play them on their home turf. I’m not saying that the 49ers are going to be terrible, but I think the Browns are serviceable enough to yield enough to start.

Sit

New Orleans Saints @ Houston Texans

The Saints were terrific in the last game and there’s no doubt that they can get the job done, but I think the Texans are going to be a tough matchup for them. First of all, the Saints have to travel to Houston. Houston has been playing really well at home this year. They also are coming off a game that didn’t see them produce the way they’ve been producing. Houston will be playing with a chip on their shoulder. It may seem like a stretch but I’m not going to bet that the Texans are going to play bad against the Saints.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts will be coming into this game with Gardner Minshew, which may seem like a bad thing for the Colts, but it’s actually pretty good for them. The rushing game for the Colts has been as solid as any around the league. If the passing game gets established the running game will definitely open up and vice versa. The Jaguars are also coming back from Tottenham as they spent the last two weeks of the season overseas. In this game they played some of the best defense against one of the best teams in the league, something that is hard to repeat. This may be a bad game for the Jaguars and I think the Colts should be able to take advantage of it.

Seattle Seahawks @ Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are coming alive and if they’re going to be playing like this, I would never start a defense against them. This isn’t going to be the offense powerhouse kind of game that we saw out of them last week, but it could very much come close against a defense that gives up a top 5 most amount of yards to opposing receivers. This isn’t a safe start, I would sit.

“Stream” These are going to be the D/STs that are sitting on your waiver wire begging to be picked up.

Start

Miami Dolphins vs. New York Giants

The Dolphins D/ST hasn’t had the best start to the season but they also faced some of the best offenses in the league (outside of the Denver Broncos). The Giants are very veeerrryyyy far from being one of the best offenses in the league. They also give up the 2nd most sacks in the league. The Dolphins have a talented defensive line that will absolutely get after Daniel Jones and then he’ll be susceptible to turnovers. I don’t think there’s a reason not to start the Dolphins against an offense that is struggling.

New York Jets @ Denver Broncos

The Broncos haven’t played a defense as talented as the Jets D/ST. This is the same D/ST that held the Chiefs to only 23 points and the Bills to 16. To say the least, this D/ST is very good and even though their offense is putting them on the field way more than they expected to be, they’re still a D/ST that should be started. From top to bottom, they’re elite and it’s going to force the offense of the Broncos to take it up a notch if they want to win, something that is hard to come by. You gotta start them.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers just allowed the Texans D/ST to eat them up. In that game, Kenny Pickett and Pat Freiermuth both got injured and they’ll be going into this week without Freiermuth and with a banged-up Kenny Pickett. The Ravens are going to demolish this team. The Ravens have the 4th most sacks in the league, they give up the 8th least amount of points up to opposing QBs, and they rank as the 13th-best D/ST in the league. They are going to move into the top 12 after this game. The Ravens have the advantage whether the Steelers run the ball or they pass the ball. This one is easy.

Sit

Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers

There isn’t a big gap between Cowoboys’ D/ST and the 49ers’ D/ST, but the 49ers’ offense is a lot better than the Cowboys’ defense. If any D/ST can get it done against this team, it’s going to be the Cowboys, but it’s not going to happen in their first matchup this season and it definitely won’t happen in San Francisco.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys offense, though not as good as the 49ers, is still deadly. The 49ers won’t find a lot of success sacking Dak Prescott with the Cowboys’ offensive line so most of their fantasy points will have to come off of interceptions and points allowed. This could be a low-scoring game but that still doesn’t make me like this D/ST against the Cowboys’ offensive weapons.

New England Patriots vs. New Orleans Saints

No Christian Gonzalez for the rest of the season. No Matthew Judon for the time being. This isn’t a good look against a team that has a lot of firepower. I will say that the Saints don’t know how to use that firepower to their advantage but this should be a better week offensively for the Saints against a depleted defense.

“Start” These are going to be D/STs that are rostered but that have a unfavorable matchup.

“Sit” These are going to be the D/STs that need to be benched until next week’s evaluation.

“Stream” These are going to be the D/STs that are sitting on your waiver wire begging to be picked up.

Start

San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers are going up against the fraudinals in this one. SF has one of the best defenses on paper, but the translation to fantasy has been rougher ride. They finished as D/ST5 and D/ST10 twice. This game will be in front of their home crowd and against a team that’s riding an upset win. The 49ers are sure to humble the Cardinals. This is a start.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots

The Cowboys D/ST has finished 1st, 3rd, 24th. The first two weeks were great but Cowboys had with their superstar cornerback Trevon Diggs face a season ending injury midway through their week. It didn’t help that the offense was missing a bunch of key players on their line. The Cowboys D/ST was set up to fail against the Cardinals, but this will be a great opportunity to get back into their normal selves. I can’t guarantee that a scripted Ezekiel Elliot touchdown against the Cowboys won’t happen, but outside of that, the Cowboys have what it takes to force a lot of turnovers in this one and with an upside like that, it’s hard not to go with them.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders

Philadelphia dominated the Buccaneers in their last game. I felt as there was still an opportunity for fraudulence with the D/ST and that a team like the Bucs would take advantage of that, but Philadelphia held their own. The Commanders aren’t any better than the Buccaneers so there shouldn’t be any trouble for this Eagles to play the way they played in their last one. They have finished as a top-12 D/ST through Week 3 (5,11,4) and Week 4 won’t be the week that breaks that streak. Start them up.

*Here’s a hot one: I think the Jets are going to upset the Chiefs this week. The Chiefs haven’t played a D/ST like the Jets all season. You can even say they are getting some mickey mouse wins. This will definitely be a change of pace for the Chiefs if they aren’t ready for that. Mahomes ankle might not even be 100% and he’s going to Met Life? I’m not saying he would injure it again, but playing on that field might cause some problems. It’s a hot take but since I’m running with that, I would continue to start the Jets D/ST. This is a risk I’m willing to take but I understand why you should stream this D/ST.

Sit

Washington Commanders @ Philadelphia Eagles

This Washington team was dismantled by the Bills in their last game. An elite offense can beat this team and I’m not going to make it seem like the Eagles don’t have an elite offense. This NFC East matchup might end up being some hard nosed football, but I’m just not going to rock with the Commanders against a team as talented as the Eagles, this is an easy sit for me.

New England Patriots @ Dallas Cowboys

The Patriots are D/ST18 right now. This isn’t a good look for the Patriots but owners knew what they were getting themselves into when drafting this D/ST. You have to assume that the Cowboys are going to be playing with fire after a bad loss with key players missing on both sides of the ball. I don’t think this is the week that we find the Patriots finish as a top-12 D/ST.

New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers are going to give them trouble. Even though the Bucs didn’t look as good as we thought they would against the Eagles, I expect the Saints to crumble the same way they did against the Packers. I also expect the Buccaneers to put up a lot more points than they did last week. I would rather stream a D/ST than take a risk against the Buccaneers.

“Sit” These are going to be the D/STs that need to be benched until next week’s evaluation.

“Stream” These are going to be the D/STs that are sitting on your waiver wire begging to be picked up.

Start

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots

The Patriots offense has a lot more to prove if they’re going to compete with their division. One of their rivals, New York Jets, have one of the best defenses in the league. They defend the run just as well as they defend the pass. They are arguably the most well rounded defenses and it’s going to be tough for the Patriots to play their game against them. It’s no clue that the Patriots have decided to air the ball out more this season but with Sauce Gardner and Jordan Whitehead defending those passes. Patriots quarterback Mac Jones will also have to throw the ball with Quinnen Williams pressuring him all game. It’s not a good look for an offense trying out some new things and their first true test will be against the Jets. The cherry on top is the Patriots are playing away, you don’t gotta be scared if you’re rostering the Jets.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Las Vegas Raiders

We saw the way the D/ST of the Steelers dominate against the Browns. This is only the beginning. The Raiders are last in the league in plays from scrimmage (94), 25th in passing yards, 30th in rushing yards, and only 3 touchdowns this season. The Steelers are going to absolutely ruin the Raiders. This may be a little tougher with them having to travel to Las Vegas, but you wouldn’t be taking a gamble starting this D/ST.

Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals

I really don’t even have to say anything about this one. This is the highest scoring D/ST in the league and if you have a massive advantage if you were lucky enough to get them in your drafts. I remember someone saying to draft the elite D/ST’s early so you can take gain the advantage, I wonder who that was…

Sit

New England Patriots @ New York Jets

The Patriots gave up 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns to Raheem Mostert last week. RAHEEM MOSTERT. There is no doubt in my mind that the backfield of Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook will be able to eat against the Patriots D/ST. The Patriots are also facing injuries in their secondary which is not ideal to have against the offensive weapons like Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. I would rather stream than play this D/ST.

New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers

The Saints have won 3 of the last 4 matchups against the Packers, two of them being in dominant fashion. This Packers team is a lot different from the Packers team they faced two years ago. The Saints have also made some changes. The Packers are spreading their offense around and it’s working for them. The Saints D/ST may not be able to keep up with that as we’ve seen them struggle with that before. This game should be competitive as any game on this slate so I’m fading away from the Saints with a game that could realistically go both ways.

Washington Commanders vs. Buffalo Bills

This Bills offense was electric in the last game and most of it came from their running game. Once their passing game gets going, it’s going to get very touch for the Commanders to handle. This is a simple sit.

“Start” These are going to be D/STs that are rostered but that have a unfavorable matchup.

“Sit” These are going to be the D/STs that need to be benched until next week’s evaluation.

“Stream” These are going to be the D/STs that are sitting on your waiver wire begging to be picked up.

Start

San Francisco 49ers @ Los Angeles Rams

No need to worry about the 49ers in this game. Though the Rams shocked us all last week against the Seahawks with an unexpended offensive explosion, this will come to an end against San Francisco. Last week we witnessed this D/ST put on an elite performance allowing only 7 points, sacking the quarterback 5 times, and picking him off twice. This week should be no different as the Rams should be playing from behind and the opportunity for turnovers and sacks will come along with that. No fear.

Buffalo Bills vs. Oakland Raiders

Buffalo had a rough one this past Monday. Though they lost that game, the D/ST still got to the quarterback three times, the Achilles once (As a highly-invested Rodgers owner, this joke pains me) and they even got an interception. Needless to say, the defense played a great game so you shouldn’t blame them for the loss. This game against Oakland is going to be a cakewalk compared to what they had to endure this past week. Matt Milano looks like an absolute monster on the field and whatever pent-up rage and aggression that the Bills have will be let out on the Raiders this Sunday. Start.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets

Do I need to explain this one? Dallas made New York remember 9/10 too. The Jets may be faster, more talented, and overall better than the Giants, but the Cowboys looked like they were from another planet and I don’t think the Jets will be able to keep up with them offensively or defensively. You can almost guarantee an interception, a fumble recovery, and 4 sacks out of this D/ST and with this group, the ceiling is extremely high. It’s their year.

Sit

New York Jets @ Dallas Cowboys

I explained it from the perspective of the Cowboys, but from the Jets’ perspective, you have to face Tony Pollard, Ceedee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Dak Prescott, and an offensive line that looks the best it’s looked in years. Good luck, New York.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals didn’t really have the chance to get started against the Browns. It could’ve been a lack of preparation that led to the team not being in sync or it could’ve been the emergence of Cleveland. I doubt it’s the latter, which makes me believe that the Bengals will be coming into this game extra prepared. This Bengals team is going to make it hard for this Ravens defense and once they get rolling, it may be bad. It’s a divisional game so it’s going to be some hardnose football and you should bench the Bengals D/ST if you have them anywhere.

Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots

This is going to be a tough game for both teams. Bill Belichick is going to find ways to get to Tua which is going to be a lot of weight on the shoulders of this D/ST. The more this D/ST is out there on the field, the worse it can be. Mac Jones and the Patriots seemed to catch some strides in the last game and whether or not that carries over is going to be up to them, but if it were to carry over and the running game picks up a bit, this D/ST might find themselves in some sticky situations.
